Mosul neighbourhoods cleared of explosives

Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service units have started removing explosives, landmines and war remnants from 38 residential neighbourhoods liberated from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in eastern Mosul, CTS spokesman Brig. Gen. Sabah al-Numan said Wednesday (December 21st).

"Joint Iraqi forces have started removing hundreds of landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and stockpiles of explosives in the 38 fully liberated residential neighbourhoods of Mosul in co-ordination with specialised technical teams from the international coalition," he told Diyaruna.

"Large quantities of explosives have been removed and several houses, buildings and shops rigged with explosives have been dismantled," he said.
