Electricity service was restored to 11 liberated areas in Ninawa province as part of a programme to accelerate the return of life to normalcy following the ouster of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity said Monday (November 21st).

"The engineering and technical teams of the North General Electricity Distribution Directorate have completed the necessary maintenance work and restored electricity service to Rabia, al-Shamal, Zamar, Sinjar, Makhmour, Debka, Qaraj, al-Kwir, Wana, al-Adnaniya and al-Shaykhan," ministry spokesman Musab al-Mudaris said in a statement.

Maintenance work included replacing and repairing power lines and reconnecting them to the Iraqi national power grid, the statement said.

"Other supporting engineering and technical teams are executing work to restore electricity to all liberated areas in co-ordination with our security forces," the statement added.
