Schools resume in Ninawa’s 1st liberated city

Schools have reopened in the city of al-Qayyarah, south of Mosul, which was the first city in Ninawa province to be liberated from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), Iraq's Ministry of Education said Tuesday (November 15th).

"The school year has successfully kicked off in the liberated city of al-Qayyarah," Minister of Education Mohammed Iqbal said in a statement.

"The resumption of classes carries a message of determination to move on the path of knowledge, and a message of hope in the victory that is awaiting our dear province," he said.

It carries a message "of strong will to overcome ignorance and backwardness with knowledge", he added.
