Dozens of ISIL fighters killed in Ninawa, Anbar operations

Security operations across Iraq on Friday (September 30th) inflicted heavy human and material losses on the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), according to the Iraqi Ministry of Defence.

In Ninawa province, international coalition aircraft destroyed two vital ISIL sites, killing and wounding dozens of the group's members, ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"Coalition fighter jets on Friday launched airstrikes targeting an ISIL training camp and a weapons and explosives cache in southern and south-western Mosul, fully destroying them and killing and wounding at least 40 terrorists," he said.

"Large quantities of ISIL ammunition and weapons were also destroyed or damaged in the airstrikes," he said.

In Anbar, Iraqi airstrikes killed 33 ISIL elements, the Anbar Operations Command said.

"The army’s air component has hit six ISIL targets in al-Hay al-Sinaei in Anah, including a meeting of the group's members," Anbar Military Operations Commander Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Mahalawi told Diyaruna.

"The airstrikes pave the way for the launch of military operations to retake Anah from ISIL," al-Mahalawi said.
