Iraqi air force hits ISIL targets near Syrian border

Iraqi fighter jets launched four airstrikes on Monday (September 19th) targeting several "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) posts in the Anbar town of al-Qaim, near the Syrian border, the Ministry of Defence said.

"Iraqi air force fighter jets launched four airstrikes targeting an ISIL camp and a bomb-making workshop in al-Qaim in western Iraq," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

The airstrikes also targeted two explosives caches in the area of Akashat on the Syrian border, he said.

"The four sites were destroyed and dozens of ISIL elements were killed in the airstrikes," Rasul added.
