Iraqi forces arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) leader in a Thursday (September 15th) security operation south of the capital Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command announced in a statement.
"Ismail Shehab, who is in charge of the special operations platoons in the so-called 'Southern Wilaya', was arrested in a carefully-planned and preemptive operation south of Baghdad," the statement said.
"Shehab was planning to carry out several terrorist operations during Eid al-Adha," the statement said.
