Accidental blast kills 9 ISIL elements in Iraq

Nine "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) elements were killed in a car bomb blast as they tried to rig it with explosives in western Anbar, the Anbar Operations Command said Thursday (September 15th).

"A vehicle blew up this morning as ISIL elements tried to rig it with explosives at a building south of Rawah in western Anbar," Anbar Operations Commander Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Mahalawi told Diyaruna.

"Nine terrorists, including an Iraqi who is in charge of rigging vehicles with explosives, have been killed in the accidental blast," al-Mahalawi said.

The blast caused the building to fully collapse, he said, noting that the facility was a government building that ISIL seized earlier.
