ISIL claims deadly attack on Turkish soldiers in Syria

The "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) has claimed a rocket attack that killed three Turkish soldiers in Syria, AFP reported Wednesday (September 7th).

The group claimed the attack in a statement circulated on social media late Tuesday.

A senior Turkish official said three soldiers were killed and four wounded in the attack in the village of Wuquf south of the border town of al-Rai.

Two soldiers were killed on the spot, while one of the wounded soldiers later died in hospital.

On Sunday, Turkish forces, supported by allied Syrian opposition factions, pushed ISIL back from the last section of the Turkish-Syrian border which it controlled.
