Coalition jets strike ISIL base west of Mosul

Coalition aircraft destroyed an "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) site west of Mosul, killing 11 of the group's fighters, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (August 30th).

“Coalition fighter jets on Tuesday morning targeted a key ISIL site in Hamam al-Alil area, 10 kilometres west of Mosul, killing 11 terrorists," Ninawa operations commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

Large quantities of ammunition and weapons and an unspecified number of four-wheel-drive vehicles also were destroyed in the strikes, he said.

“The site was a house owned by an Iraqi army soldier and seized by ISIL after it occupied the city," he added. "The operation was carried out based on co-operation and joint co-ordination between the Iraqi forces and the international coalition.”
