More than 40% of Heet residents have returned home as operations are ongoing to rehabilitate the remaining parts of town, Heet Council chief Mohammed al-Heeti said Monday (August 15th).
The displaced families have returned "following the removal of landmines and remnants of war left behind by the 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL)”, al-Heeti said in a press conference.
“This percentage is based on Heet's population of 70,000 according to the latest statistics,” he said.
