Iraq provides urgent aid to families fleeing ISIL

Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement received nearly 2,000 displaced families in the past three days at the refugee camp in Baiji, Salaheddine province, after they fled from areas under "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) control, the ministry said Tuesday (July 26th).

“Our relief teams have provided relief to 1,964 families and placed them at camps, and are providing quick food and treatment supplies to them,” the ministry said in a statement. “The assistance included air coolers, food baskets, medicines, and various humanitarian items."

The families fled from al-Sharqat, an area south of the city of Mosul, the statement said.

“Medical teams have also been provided to examine women and children,” the statement said.

The ministry said it would continue to provide aid to the families until their homes were liberated from ISIL.
