Nearly 50,000 families returned to Anbar in July

More than 47,000 displaced families have returned to Anbar this month, Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement said Friday (July 22nd).

“The operations to bring families back home in liberated areas are ongoing and correspond with efforts to restore services,” the ministry’s director of humanitarian and relief work, Dr. Ahmed Said, told Diyaruna.

“Co-operation between the ministry, security forces and various service departments has helped bring 47,567 families home in Anbar’s liberated cities, including Ramadi, al-Khalidiya, Rutbah, al-Karma and Heet, where the security forces are establishing law and order,” he said.

The director said he hoped the pace of return would accelerate over the next two months, and when the families return home the ministry would provide them with basic aid "including food, in-kind and health assistance, to help them manage their affairs".
