Iraqi police killed six men who intended to blow themselves up in various parts of Diyala, the provincial police command said Wednesday (July 20th).
“Through a major intelligence effort, Diyala police killed six [would-be] suicide bombers who were planning to blow themselves up in Baqubah, al-Khalis, al-Salam, Khan Bani Saad and Baladruz,” Diyala police chief Maj. Gen. Jassim al-Saadi said during a press conference in central Baqubah.
“The two-day operation was launched based on the confessions of detained terrorists and citizens’ co-operation,” he said, noting that “focus on intelligence and residents’ co-operation have a major impact on security in Diyala".
