Iraqi army, Peshmerga and tribal forces, backed by the international coalition, on Monday (July 18th) liberated a village south of Mosul from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL).
Iraqi forces entered al-Awsaja village near al-Qayyara on Monday evening "following battles supported by the international coalition in which ISIL suffered heavy losses", Ninawa Operations Commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Al-Shorfa.
The Iraqi flag was flown over the village and operations are ongoing to clear it completely, he said, adding that ISIL is "collapsing".
