Iraqi airstrikes destroyed major "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) sites in the Hamam al-Alil area south of Mosul, the Ministry of Defence said Friday (July 15th).
Acting on intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence Directorate, Iraqi F-16s bombed ISIL hideouts and destroyed the "town emirate", killing the group's "deputy emir" Sami Ahmed Hamid, "Abu Anas", the ministry said in a statement.
Iraqi forces also targeted an ISIL "hisbah" (religious police) headquarters, a "real estate diwan" and a "police diwan", killing and wounding a number of ISIL elements in the process, according to the statement.
