The first police station has opened in Fallujah to restore security and order following the completion of military operations against the "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in the city, Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij said Tuesday (July 5th).
The Iraqi army regained full control of Fallujah on June 26th after expelling the final remaining pockets of ISIL fighters from its neighbourhoods.
“The opening of the police station coincides with the return of firefighting station and the entry of engineering teams to deal with explosives before rehabilitation and cleaning teams enter town,” he told Al-Shorfa.
Iraqi forces are moving to quickly bring residents back to town and end their stay at displacement camps, he said.
