Iraqi forces inflict heavy losses on ISIL around Baghdad

Iraqi security forces have found and destroyed a workshop used by the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) to rig vehicles and make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in al-Jolan area in Fallujah, to the west of Baghdad, the Ministry of Defence said Wednesday (June 29th).

The workshop also contained explosives, wires, sparks, six heat-seeking rockets, 39 SPG-9 rockets and seven IEDs which were dismantled without incident, the ministry said in a statement.

"A 14th Division force also detonated 10 houses rigged with explosives, dismantled 10 IEDs and seized light weapons in al-Azrakia area in Fallujah," the statement said.

Meanwhile, during a search operation in Albu Hosa, north of Baghdad, a force from the 22nd Brigade found a large ISIL rest house at an orchard containing ammunition, gear, military clothes and IEDs, which were dismantled, the statement added.
