Iraqi forces recaptured the areas of al-Halabsa and Albu Elwan from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in a military operation launched Tuesday (June 28th) morning to complete the liberation of the western Fallujah countryside, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said.
"Joint Iraqi forces cleared al-Halabsa and Albu Elwan, all the way to the old Fallujah Bridge to the west, from ISIL, and raised the Iraqi flag in both areas," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Al-Shorfa.
"ISIL terrorists have fled the area, and our forces are currently pursuing them towards Anbar’s desert," he said.
