Army kills ISIL southern Baghdad 'military commander'

Baghdad's operations command forces killed the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) military commander in southern Baghdad in a Monday (June 20th) operation, the Iraqi Defence Ministry said in a statement.

"Iraqi army forces today managed to kill the so-called military commander of southern Baghdad in an ambush that they set up for a terrorist group trying to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the area of al-Obaid," the statement said.
