Iraqi forces liberate al-Nasr village south of Mosul

Iraqi forces on Tuesday (June 14th) liberated the largest village south of Mosul from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Ninawa operations command said.

"Units from the 15th Division on Tuesday evening liberated al-Nasr village and raised the Iraqi flag on its buildings," Ninawa operations commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Al-Shorfa.

"Iraqi forces are currently advancing into neighbouring al-Salahiya to liberate it," he said, adding that these operations aim to clear areas surrounding Mosul from ISIL before kicking off operations to liberate the city itself.
