40 ISIL elements killed in battles around Fallujah

Iraqi forces killed at least 40 "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) elements on Friday (June 3rd) in attacks on ISIL sites and fortifications on the northern and southern outskirts of town, Fallujah operations commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Wahab al-Saadi said.

"The number of ISIL elements is continuously decreasing as ground battles rage on and the international coalition monitors and targets their gatherings and artillery sites," he said.

Iraqi forces have now reached the outskirts of al-Shohada neighbourhood on the border of the city, he said.
