Iraqi forces liberate vital bridge north of Fallujah

Iraqi forces on Wednesday (June 1st) liberated a vital bridge north of Fallujah as part of ongoing operations to liberate the city from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said.

"The army on Wednesday morning liberated the vital al-Saqlawiya Bridge which connects the international highway north of Fallujah to the central town," the ministry said in a statement.

The army liberated the areas adjacent to the bridge and eliminated the ISIL force that was controlling it, torching their vehicles, the statement said.

Work is under way to complete the liberation of the road leading to Fallujah, the statement added.
