Iraqi forces are battling the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) deep in eastern Mosul, edging towards the Tigris river that divides the city, which is the group's last major stronghold in Iraq.
Local residents have been welcoming the liberating forces with open arms and chants ( watch video
), as more than two years of oppressive rule under ISIL is now over. Many are collaborating with Iraqi forces, providing them with intelligence information regarding the location of ISIL hideouts and gatherings.
Victory for Iraq!
