Iraqi forces, international coalition kill 12 ISIS elements

Iraqi forces backed by international coalition warplanes killed 12 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in a security operation in northern Anbar and western Salaheddine, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Thursday (September 26th).

A joint Iraqi force raided an ISIS hideout in Umm al-Tous on the border between Anbar and Salaheddine provinces and clashed with the group's elements, it said in a statement.

The force killed seven militants and set fire to three vehicles loaded with ammunition and explosives, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Iraqi and international coalition warplanes killed five of the terrorists as they tried to escape, it said, noting that additional airstrikes destroyed an ISIS underground hideout in the area.
