4 displacement camps closed in Ninawa province

Iraqi authorities have closed four displacement camps in Ninawa province and returned their residents to their areas of origin, Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement said Monday (September 23rd).

The camps included al-Jadaa 2 and 3, al-Madraj and al-Salamiya 3, Minister of Migration and Displacement Nawfal Bahaa Moussa said in a statement.

"The residents of al-Jadaa 2 and 3 were transferred to al-Jadaa 1 after most of its residents returned to their original areas," he said.

Meanwhile, al-Madraj camp in al-Qayyarah and al-Salamiya 3 in eastern Mosul were closed and residents were brought back to their original areas after four years in displacement.

The ministry will proceed with its strategy of bringing displaced families back to their homes and providing them with the necessary assistance and services, Moussa said.
