Iraqi army seizes large quantities of ISIS weapons in Anbar

The Iraqi army has found large quantities of explosives, ammunition and weapons belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) at an underground cache in Wadi al-Qadhf in the Anbar desert, the Ministry of Defence said Thursday (September 12th).

The operation was conducted in co-ordination with the Hawks Intelligence Cell, the ministry said, noting that the cache contained dozens of explosive vests and hundreds of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), rockets, landmines, ammunition, various weapons and modern communication devices.

"The army found the cache based on tips provided by a detainee who had worked for ISIS," it said, adding that "the contents were removed to a safe place pending disposal."
