Iraqi forces killed six "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements who attempted to stage an attack against a combat regiment in Diyala province, the Ministry of Defence said Thursday (August 22nd).
A force from the Iraqi army 5th Division’s 3rd Regiment repelled an attack by six ISIS elements targeting the regiment's headquarters in Qara Taba in Diyala, the ministry said in a statement.
"The force besieged and killed them after clashing with them," it said, noting that the militants "included four suicide bombers wearing explosive vests".
One of the suicide bombers was the media officer of ISIS's "wilayat Diyala", it said, noting that his camera was found during the operation.
