Terror suspect confessions lead Iraqi police to underground arms cache

A large underground weapons and explosives cache belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) was discovered in western Anbar based on the confessions of a terror suspect, the Iraqi police in Anbar province said Wednesday (August 21st).

"Security forces seized large quantities of weapons, including medium and light machine guns, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), anti-armour landmines, rockets, and various explosives at an underground cache in al-Qaim," Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

"The cache belongs to ISIS, and its seizure is an important achievement as it will significantly reduce the group's chances of getting explosives and using them against civilians," he added.
