Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements convicted of carrying out terror attacks have received life sentences, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council said Tuesday (August 20th).
Al-Karkh criminal court has handed two terrorists life sentences for belonging to ISIS and for being involved in various terror operations, "including planning to assassinate a judge with the aim of undermining the country’s security and stability", the council said in a statement.
The court passed its verdict according to articles 4 and 2 of the anti-terrorism law No. 13 of 2005, the council said.
