3 terror cells dismantled in Kirkuk

Iraqi forces broke up three terror cells and arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader in Kirkuk province's al-Hawijah on Tusday (August 13th), the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said.

"Units from the Kirkuk Intelligence and Security Directorate have today dismantled three terror cells and arrested their members, including the so-called 'emir of mills' in al-Hawijah," the ministry said in a statement.

The cell's members admitted to committing "the most horrific crimes and to killing innocent people with cold blood", it said.

"Investigations with the cell's members have yielded information on the site where food supplies and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are being transferred," it added.

They also admitted to transferring money to the families of ISIS members who were killed in Kirkuk, the statement said.

A joint security force raided the site and seized items found inside, it said.
