Coalition destroys ISIS underground hideout in western Anbar

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) militants were killed and weapons and ammunition were destroyed in an international coalition airstrike targeting an underground hideout in the Anbar desert, the al-Jazeera and al-Badiya Command said Friday (August 9th).

"The hideout is located in Wadi Jebab in the desert stretching out to the Syria border," commander Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Muhammadi said.

"It was discovered through aerial images which proved that ISIS militants are active in the area," he told Diyaruna.

Iraqi forces co-ordinated with the international coalition to destroy the hideout, he said.

"The operation is part of joint anti-terrorism efforts to eliminate ISIS remnants in desert and mountainous areas in western and northern Iraq," he said.
