Iraqi forces rehabilitate 20 liberated villages in Anbar

The Iraqi army’s Military Engineers Units kicked off on Wednesday (July 17th) rehabilitation operations of about 20 liberated villages in western Anbar, the al-Jazeera and al-Badiya Command said.

The projects include maintenance of bridges, irrigation networks, and utility poles and the removal of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) war remnants such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and landmines.

"The Iraqi forces are assisting with rehabilitation and stabilisation efforts in villages along the two banks of the Euphrates, east and north of al-Baghdadi," al-Jazeera and al-Badiya Commander Maj. Gen. Qassim al-Muhammadi told Diyaruna.

Rehabilitation work is aimed at facilitating the return of displaced people to their areas, he said.
