Coalition airstrike kills 7 ISIS militants near Iraq border

Seven "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements were killed and their hideout was destroyed in an international coalition airstrike in Anbar province, the Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (June 5th).

Acting on intelligence about an underground weapons cache in Wadi Jaeel desert in al-Dulab, west of Heet, a coalition warplane conducted an airstrike at 5 a.m. Wednesday that killed seven militants and destroyed their hideout, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi said.

All weapons and explosives stored inside the cache were destroyed, he told Diyaruna.

"The militants were active in the area, having carried out a number of terrorist operations, including highway robberies and attacks against travelers," he said, describing the operation as "important in the framework of efforts to eliminate ISIS remnants".
