International coalition provides Mosul police with new equipment

The international coalition has provided assistance to the Mosul local and emergency police as part of a stabilisation programme in areas liberated from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) across Iraq, the Iraqi police in Ninawa said Tuesday (April 16th).

The assistance included explosives detectors, equipment for clearing landmines and dismantling explosives, helmets and bulletproof vests, Ninawa police chief Brig. Gen. Hamad Namis al-Jubury said.

Training also was provided on dealing with terrorist ambushes, methods of analyzing information and acting on it, and ways to build solid relations between security personnel and civilians, he said.

"The support that Iraqi security forces receive from the international coalition in Mosul and other areas in Ninawa is crucial in enhancing peace across the province," he said.
