28 Yazidi women, children kidnapped by ISIS handed over to Iraq

The Iraqi government has received 28 Yazidi women and children who were kidnapped by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) and held captive in Syria, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Sunday (April 14th).

"Fourteen Yazidi children and 14 women, natives of Sinjar and Tal Afar, were handed over to Iraqi security forces in the last two days," the ministry said in a statement.

They were handed over to the 15th Division’s 72nd Brigade units at al-Fao border crossing before being taken to the Ninawa police directorate, it said.

The freed Yazidis will soon be returned to their families, the statement said.
