Joint forces free 2 kidnapped Iraqis from ISIS in Anbar desert

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements have been arrested in an operation in Anbar's desert, the Anbar Operations Command said Thursday (April 11th).

Joint Iraqi forces launched a large-scale operation, supported by Iraqi helicopters, after two citizens were kidnapped and taken to the Anbar desert, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

The hostages were freed and three ISIS elements, who were trying to extort their families for money, were arrested, he said.

"The search operation will continue as we have received information about other militants [in the desert]," he added.
