ISIS terror cell dismantled near Syria border

An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell has been dismantled in western Anbar, near the Syria border, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Thursday (March 21st).

Acting on accurate intelligence, units of the Military Intelligence Directorate, 8th Division, in co-operation with the intelligence unit of the 32nd Infantry Brigade, arrested the six members of the terror cell, the ministry said in a statement.

The militants were operating in two groups in al-Qaim and al-Karabla, it said.

"The detainees are ISIS elements, some of whom had served as security elements [for the group] while the others were in charge of setting up mobile checkpoints," it said.
