An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element involved in recruiting children to serve in the group's ranks has been arrested in Heet, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said Tuesday (March 5th).
"Acting on accurate intelligence, the Iraqi army’s Military Intelligence units arrested the element in charge of recruiting children for ISIS, known as Abu Saraqa," the ministry said in a statement.
"The arrest was made after a carefully-planned ambush in Heet in Anbar [province]," it said.
Abu Saraqa "had recruited many children by deceiving and luring them", the statement said.
