France, Australia to discuss future of Syrian coalition with US

France and Australia on Tuesday (February 26th) welcomed the US decision to retain soldiers in Syria, saying they will discuss the future of the international coalition fighting the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) with the US, AFP reported.

"We can only welcome the US decision to leave soldiers in north-eastern Syria. Now what counts is to work towards implementation," French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said after talks in Paris with Australian counterpart Marise Payne.

"We are waiting to discuss conditions for implementation with the US," he said.

Payne said Australia was a "steadfast" member of the coalition, adding: "We shall work with our colleagues and counterparts and allies as that comes to hand."

As the coalition prepares to capture the last ISIS bastion in Syria, talks are under way to see how peace and stability could be brought to liberated areas.
