Anbar displacement camp closed after final batch of families returns home

A displacement camp located near Fallujah was closed Monday (February 11th) after the last remaining families left it to return home to areas liberated from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), deputy Anbar governor Jassim al-Assal told Diyaruna.

"The Bzeibiz refugee camp was fully closed after the last 127 families were transferred to their homes in western Anbar where residential areas were cleared of war remnants and basic services were restored," he said.

The shutting down of the camp is an encouraging sign, he said, adding that the closure of all remaining camps in the province and across Iraq "will erase all the negative effects brought on by ISIS".

Efforts are ongoing, in co-ordination with the army and police forces, to secure the liberated areas, remove war remnants and restore services, he added.
