6 Yazidi women, children kidnapped by ISIS freed in Mosul

Iraqi forces have freed six Yazidi women and their children who were kidnapped by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Mosul, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence announced late Monday (February 11th).

"Security forces freed six kidnapped Yazidi women with their six children whom ISIS had kidnapped during the terrorists' control of Mosul," the ministry said in a statement.

"The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence within the area of responsibility of the 15th Division in co-ordination with the other security sectors," it said.

The women and children were safely returned to their families in Sinjar, it said.
