Two militants arrested while trying to cross border into Iraq

Iraqi Border Guard forces arrested two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) militants who tried to cross the Syria border into Iraq at dawn on Wednesday (January 9th), the Ninawa Operations Command said.

Iraqi forces "let the two militants cross the border then set up an ambush for them and arrested them in Rabia", commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

"They were taken to a security detention facility for interrogation," he said.

As part of the same operation, Iraqi forces also found an ISIS weapons and ammunition cache containing large amounts of explosives and seized all of its content, he said.
