Iraqi forces arrest 2 ISIS elements in Baghdad

Two "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements, including one wanted for committing "several crimes", have been arrested in Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Tuesday (January 8th).

"A special operations force last night carried out a high-level operation and arrested two ISIS elements in western and northern Baghdad who had collaborated with ISIS during the group’s control of cities in western Iraq," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

"One of the terrorists is wanted for involvement in several crimes," he said.

"They were identified following security monitoring and thanks to the co-operation of one of the defendant's relatives who had disavowed him because of his crimes," he said.
