Leader of ISIS cell arrested in Mosul

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria " (ISIS) members, one of them the leader of a terror cell, have been arrested in a joint Iraqi army-police operation in several areas of Mosul, the Ninawa Operations Command said Monday (January 7th).

"Joint Iraqi forces apprehended a man known as Naïf al-Mosuli, the head of an ISIS terror cell in Mosul, as well as two others, all wanted for trial according to article 4 of the anti-terrorism law," commander Maj. Gen. Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

Security forces found various weapons and explosives in al-Mosuli's possession and confiscated important documents and information related to the activities and sources of funding of terrorist elements, he said.

"The operation was based on the confession of a terrorist detained by the security forces, who disclosed the location [of the cells members]," he said.
