Iraqi forces destroy 4 ISIS tunnels in Mosul

Iraqi forces destroyed tunnels belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) during joint police-army operations in Mosul, the Ninawa Operations Command said Thursday (January 3rd).

"Four ISIS tunnels were destroyed in the last 24 hours, including a 1,000-metre long tunnel that contained weapons," commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

Iraqi forces kicked off a new operation to look for tunnels the group had dug for hiding or storing weapons in Badoush and Aski in Mosul, he said.

They "will continue to comb adjacent areas on Thursday and Friday to make sure there are no ISIS tunnels there", he added.
