ISIS explosives leader arrested in Anbar

Iraqi forces in Anbar province have arrested an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element who specialises in making explosives and rigging vehicles, the Anbar Operations Command said Tuesday (December 4th).

"In an operation carried out in east Ramadi, the Iraqi army’s 28th Infantry Brigade arrested a dangerous ISIS element who was in charge of rigging vehicles with explosives, making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and teaching the techniques to new ISIS recruits," commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"The detainee had been monitored in several areas before he was arrested in an ambush in an agricultural area with another man," he said.

"This is a painful blow dealt to ISIS," he said, noting that "the terrorist's identity will be revealed once the investigations have been completed".
