Joint committee to expedite return of displaced Anbar residents

A committee has been formed to expedite the return of all displaced people to their liberated areas in Anbar as efforts to remove all remnants of war near completion, the Anbar provincial office announced Tuesday (November 20th).

"Efforts to bring displaced people back home in their liberated areas are ongoing," said Khalid Abu Reesha, who is in charge of displaced persons' affairs in the province.

A joint committee comprising representatives from the army, police, local government and Ministry of Migration and Displacement has been formed to realise this goal, he said.

"Security forces are about to complete the removal of remnants of war and landmines from the cities which the 'Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' (ISIS) had occupied, in order to bring all displaced people back home," he said.

The legal issues pertaining to families of ISIS elements who are currently residing in displacement camps will also be handled, he said.
