ISIS explosives stockpile destroyed in Anbar

About one tonne of high-impact C-4 explosives were destroyed at an underground cache belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) during an army search in Husayba in western Anbar, the Anbar Operations Command said Monday (November 19th).

"As part of operations to comb desert and agricultural areas, the army found a large ISIS cache containing crude C-4 explosives weighing about one tonne, and more than 100 locally-made improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bombs and rockets believed to be a source for supplying ISIS terrorist operations in western Iraq," commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"The army destroyed all the contents and backfilled the cache -- a tunnel consisting of a large room," he said.

"The operation has deprived ISIS terrorists of an important source for supplying their terrorist operations with explosives," he added.
