Senior ISIS leader arrested in Kirkuk

A special team from the Iraqi security forces has arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader in Kirkuk province based on his detained brother’s confessions, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Wednesday (November 7th).

"Security forces arrested Abu Nasser, a senior ISIS leader, in Tal Khadija in al-Hawijah in a special operation conducted based on confessions given by his brother who is also detained for terrorism-related charges in Kirkuk," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

"The detained terrorist assumed an important position in ISIS and had taken part in fighting against Iraqi forces during the battles to oust ISIS from Iraq", he said.
