Iraqi forces kill senior ISIS leader in Kirkuk

Iraqi forces have killed a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) commander in Kirkuk, the Security Media Centre said Thursday (October 11th).

“Iraqi Federal Police intelligence units, operating as part of the Interior Ministry’s Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency, killed a terrorist between Shalaka and al-Debb villages in Kirkuk,” spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul said.

“Investigations indicated the terrorist had served as commander of an ISIS terrorist battalion called al-Qadisiya, which specialises in assassinations and the targeting of security elements,” he said.

Other detainees were shown his photograph, and confirmed he is a significant figure in the group, Rasul said.
